Here
are some additional pictures from the Zone Conference that Devin L.
attended. Be sure to look at the Part I
Page first. Here is an excerpt of Devin L.'s letter from his
experience at the grave site.
"After that, we walked to the graveyard to where Isaac and Elizabeth Hale and one of their children were buried and one of Joseph and Emma Smith's children. What an amazing feeling it was to stand where the prophets son was. We then went to the area of where the foundation area of Joseph and Emma Smith's home used to be. A great feeling came to me as President Pugh told us that most of the Book of Mormon was translated here. It was cool to be in that spiritual air." I
went searching to find out more about this area and the history. I found
another article from the Church website that gives additional information that
is very helpful:
-
Joseph Smith’s Susquehanna Years:
This talks more in detail about Joseph Smith living in this area, how he
met and courted Emma Hale, they lost their first child, and later translated
the Book of Mormon.
