June 8, 2009 Dear Family, Well Elder Carlson is gone and I'll be getting a new companion today, I don't know who he is yet but I'll write a letter later on today with more details. It was great going to the departing missionary fireside last night, it was an amazing spiritual meeting of seeing the big group of Elders going home and the Pughs. The Pughs will be officially gone June 30th. Its going to be a huge change in the mission with everything that's going on. We will be merging with Pittsburg Mission and all of the Scranton areas and zone will be merged to the Philadelphia Mission. Things in the area are going well, amazing things have happened this week. Yesterday at church before it started an older gentlemen came in and started talking about how he wants us to meet with his son and teach him everything. The guy was a member and his son lives just down the street from the church, so we're definitely going to be visiting this guy this week. At district meeting about 3/4 through, a lady walks into the church and finds us "Could you guys teach me about the church, I've been driving by the last couple days and have been wanting to learn more about it. I'm getting married in a year and want to attend a good church." Think of the chances of that!! Eight missionaries just happen to have district meeting when she walks into the church.... She is in the other elders area but its amazing to see how our heavenly father literally puts people into our paths, sometimes its more boldly than others hahaha. The weather is starting to get really hot and humid...... GAAAAHHHHH Things in the ward are going great, this area is awesome and the members are so sweet. Our ward mission leader is hilarious and is an awesome dude, the ward is really focused on missionary work. The pictures worked, pretty sweet. I sent home the pictures last week and also 2 packages on Friday of the last 9 months of mail, shoes that I'm not using and some other things that I don't need to carry around anymore. Ill try to write a letter today, things are going to be crazy. Love ya, Elder Holmes So he sent home two pairs of shoes, 9 months of letters, and his winter gloves. Does that mean he didn't use them this past winter or does that mean I have to send them back this coming winter when he needs them again? Boys. |
