March 9, 2009 Dear Family, Well this past week has probably been the best I've had in this area. We finally found an investigator! We tracted into him, taught him a first lesson and hopefully seeing him again tomorrow. I've got my new MAC Card, so I have money again, the usual $130. Thanks for the package, definitely appreciated, at first I thought it was random, but then realized I have no food, so it helps. We've ran into a lot of angry people as well. Mainly idiots who have no idea what they're even talking about and need to actually read. We were walking through downtown and saw a guy raking leaves. So we went to go talk with him, he made some smart comments and acted like it was funny, some show "Big Love", something about a polygamist. It's funny though, because he didn't have the guts to look us in the face, that's what happens when you've been living in darkness forever, the light is too bright! We just left and came back to the apartment. The other day we went to Pillow, a really small town at the top end of our area, only about 200 people, if that. Everyone hated us, a lot of people like to use the other word for poop for some reason....hmmm....some old guy told us to get a job like 8 times, that's the only comeback he had sadly....I'm like, "I've got a job, it's serving the Lord and people like you!" Then he said nothing else, and we left and went back to somewhat of civilization. Yesterday we were able to go to a baptism in Sunbury. Elder Ellsworth had been teaching him so we got permission from President Pugh to go. I met a guy that used to live/grew up 3 doors from Grandma & Grandpa, the "Scotts" family. He seemed to be like a cool dude. He's like "Oh, your Jeff's cousin!" Maybe I'll get to server there later on. Well it's already the start of week 6, can't believe this transfer is almost over, they go by so fast. I'll probably be staying and Ellsworth leaving, but we won't know until Saturday night. Thanks for the pictures as well, they are always wanted! Yeeeaaahhh! Can't wait to hear from you guys again, today is going to be a good p-day. We went to the building in Harrisburg, playing basketball, then went to a pizza buffet for $5, I ATE! Oh the MIB building from the movie is in Harrisburg, I got pictures, sweet! Love ya, Elder Holmes PS I'll probably send the card home next week. He talks about week 6, transfers are about every 6 weeks. So this Saturday they will find out if one of them will transfer or stay for another 6 weeks. That's funny about the building, it's from Men In Black. That is one of our favorite movies. Actually a lot of movies are shot in Harrisburg, PA. Can't wait for more pictures! |
