February 16, 2009 This is a letter that we asked Devin L. to send home to be read at Adam's Baptism on Saturday February 21st. Adam today is a very important day in your life, you're being baptized! Our Heavenly Father is very happy to see you go forth into the waters of baptism. Your brother is very proud of you as well Adam, and I'm not talking just talking about me. In Matthew chapter 2:16-17 it talks about the baptism of Jesus Chris and how he set the example for us to be baptized. 16 "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heaven's were opened unto him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him." 17 "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." Adam your older brother, Christ, set the example for us to be baptized, and it's wonderful to see that you are following in his footsteps. After your baptized you will receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost, he'll be your companion when Mom and Dad aren't there, he will guide and protect and protect you Adam. It's an amazing gift and blessing to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I've taught drug lords, drug dealers, and criminals, I've taught in area's most wouldn't dare to set foot into. But I do it because I know I'm being protected with the power of God and his messengers. It's not easy to take upon yourself the name of Christ Adam. But you will be blessed all throughout your life. I'm so grateful for this church. I don't know where I'd be without it. I've stood in the face of the adversary and bore my testimony without fear because it's true and this is the true church. Our mother and father wear the armor of god for us Adam, pay attention to their example and council. I love you so much Adam, you're on the path to becoming a missionary and celestial glory. I say this, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, Amen. Elder Holmes Thank you to Tayviah MacDonald who read this sweet letter at the baptism. There is no way that Angie or I could have read this talk and made it through. You did a great job for us. |
