My Letters Home: December 8, 2008 - Letter

December 8, 2008

To my family!

This week has been pretty exciting, on Tuesday Elder Sorensen forgot his keys so getting back into the apartment was exciting.  I used a bottle cap on a can to open the main door, it wasn't hard since the lock was old.  Then I carded the apartment door to get back in, fun stuff.

Found a new investigator this week, him and his family are Baptist.  It's pretty exciting teaching him.  Its been pretty hard walking around.  A lot of angry people yelling at us.

On Saturday we tracted for about 3 hours and ran into a less active member.  It was about 7 pm and snowing, it was dark and couldn't really see inside.  We knock and a huge bald guy comes out with a shot gun and yells and swearing "what do you guys want!"  When he realized it was us, he like, "Oh sorry guys, come on in."  We shared a quick message and left, going back to get a new pair of pants.  But that's not it, walking home was a funny experience as well...

While walking back to the apartment some fairly attractive young women drive by, I wave and they smile and wave back.  I notice to see their car pass us back and forth several times, I look to my companion and I'm like crap....

They stopped and asked if we needed a ride, we said we were only a few blocks from our apartment, they giggled and drove off.  Then passed by again and smiled and waved.  After they were gone, once finally coming up to our apartment we made sure no one was following or watching, obviously for the 2 college girls stalking us!  Awww a good day....

Sunday we only had Sacrament Meeting because the weather was so bad, we tracted for about 2 hours ate dinner, and went over to a members house to watch the Christmas Devotional.

Today we visited a hospital to see a less active member that was sick.  We shared a message with her and she asked if we could give her a blessing.  It was the first I have ever given!  It was a very spiritual time for me and I enjoyed being able to use the priesthood.

Well sorry to be giving mom gray hair over writing someone, but you'll get over it, hahaha...sounds like dad is doing well enough to get back on the bike Yyyeeaahh!  That's what I'm talking about!  We have dinner Christmas Eve with a member family and I guess they act/dress up for the Christmas Story and video tape it with the missionaries each year, joy....

Hope your enjoying the freakin awesome weather over there, you don't understand the meaning of cold!  It was 12 degrees this morning!  Wheeeeww!

Love your son, Elder Holmes

Looks like people are getting gun crazy back there, shots in the night, shotguns at the door?!  At least they know how to break in to their apartment.
